Happy Sunday - Songwriters, Musicians, Recording Artists I hope you enjoy your day and take some time for yourself to refresh and recharge.

In this crazy business and in the music industry in genereal we often get so caught up with touring, gigs, recording studio sessions, writing, producing music, promoting music, music demos, making phone calls, following up on letters and emails, designing graphics, updating our websites, and of course reaching out to fans. Basically, we end up "wearing all the hats"....

It is with this in mind that I suggest you try to give yourself alittle extra time to enjoy life... Walk, read, exercise, picnic, Nap, canoe, enjoy the outdoors, take in a movie, take a scenic drive, spend time with family & friends, etc.

In the end you'll realize that a day well spent to recharge is worth its weight in gold and might even help in your creativity.

This week I finished producing a song from talented songwriter M.L. McGlothon from the USA.

The song "Give Me Something More" has a great classic R&B/POP/AC style with sophistication and soul.

It will be a perfect fit for recording artist that still embrace a classic style such as Sade, Vanessa Williams, Celine Dion, etc. It will also be a perfect fit for many television scenes and films.

If you are a talented songwriter that can write various styles of music this will make you even more valuable! Think about it... You will be flexible and able to take advantage of the current market and what is hitting big right now.

For example if you can write lyrics to fit uptempo pop/dance tracks like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry or Pop/Rock like John Mayer, Taylor Swift, Colby Calliet or even Pop/Urban like Justin Beiber, Usher then alot more opportunities await you!

I'm working with some incredibly talented songwriters, musicians, and vocalists. I really looking forward to completing some great sounding music!

I had several nice phone calls yesterday from songwriters, recording artists regarding their music demos and upcoming recording projects. One thing that keeps coming to mind after hearing their past song demos and recording projects is that your music can't sound like a demo.
Try staying away from dated sounding productions or "Fad" type sounds that sound great now but in 2or 3 months sound old already....

It is vital that your recording or music demo is master quality - radio ready and MUST be able to compete with anything on the radio, in television, or on film. This is the most important aspect of your music in order to earn royalties, get placed with a recording artist, or licensed in television/film.

There are no exceptions to this rule.

Even though it might still be referred to as a music demo, song demo, demo recording, or maybe it was produced by a "demo recording studio", again, it can't sound like a demo. If it does you are wasting your money. The vocalists have to be TOP NOTCH... period... The music has to be Mixed and Mastered, as well as, produced tastefully.

Again, I strongly suggest comparing it to successful artist that are currently on the radio. Example - if you are writing or recording country/pop crossover for your music demo or recording project than compare it against Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, etc...

R&B compare it to Usher, Beyonce, Christina...

Dance/Pop - Kelly Rowland, Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, etc..

Pop/Rock - compare it to Colby Calliet, Five For Fighting, Train, Lady Antelbellum, etc..

These are just some examples. If your recording or music demo can't compare with these then you have wasted your time and money. It is very important to listen to several music producers work before selecting a studio to record your music demo or recording project. Don't base your decision on price alone or you might just have a cd recording, song demo, or music demo that goes nowhere and has to be re-done in a year or so...

completed the music tracks for music demos for 2 talented songwriters. Jeff Cheney (Usa) has a great song demo entitled "Find My Way" and M.L. McGlothin (Usa) has a smooth song called "Give Me Something More".

I'm looking forward to recording both songs next week in the recording studio and turning them from song & music demos into radio ready master quality recordings!
